GEOCHEMIST
Geochemists might be curious people who are interested in how things work. They are probably observant and see things other people don't notice. They are independent and creative thinkers.
The Geochemists from both teams will cooperate and work together.
The Geochemist will:
Use a series of chemical tests on rock samples to determine the presence of carbonates, and pH.
Use a metal detector to prospect for rocks and minerals that could be developed economically, particularly iron and copper ore, and opal
The Geochemist's equipment includes:
Rock hammer
Hand lens (with light)
Sample collection kit
Metal detector
Mineral identification data
The Geochemist will be in direct contact with the PDSE (Payload Deployment Systems Engineer) in Mission Control.
The PDSE will:
Assist astronauts with setting up and using equipment (all information is available in a database)
Record all data collected by the Geochemist.
Record the location of any prospecting samples
