GEOBIOLOGIST

Geobiologists might be good story tellers. They have an eye for details. They are creative and might like working with their hands.

The Geobiologists from both teams will cooperate and work together.

The Geobiologist will:

  • Search for conglomerate rock and undertake a pebble assay - sift, sort and grade pebbles to determine if they were part of a river system.

  • Search for and sample sedimentary rocks that might contain fossils.

The Geobiologist equipment includes:

  • Hand tools

  • Sample grid

  • Pebble sorter

  • Sample collection kit

  • Rock identification data base

The Geobiologist will be in direct contact with the BSO (Biological Sciences Officer) in Mission Control.

The BSO will:

  • Monitor the vital signs (heart rate, respiration etc) of all astronauts on the Mars surface.

  • Record results from the pebble assay - including size and roundness to determine the size of the river system.

  • Assist the Geobiologist to identify sedimentary rocks, and record the location of all samples.

TASK: Write a brief report explaining while you would be great for this job.
