COMMANDER
Commanders might be good communicators who are prepared to take responsibility and make decisions. They like to be in charge, and will keep a cool head in a crisis. They are trustworthy.
The Commander is responsible for the safety of all astronauts on the surface. The Commanders from both teams will cooperate and work together.
The Commander will:
Have an understanding of all astronaut roles
Be the first astronaut on the surface
Lay out marker pegs at sites to be investigated (you'll need to read a map)
Ensure all tasks are complete and assist astronauts as required
Ensure all data is relayed to Mission Control
Ensure photographs are taken
The Commander's equipment includes:
Marker pegs
Tablet computer
The Commander will be in direct contact with the MISSION DIRECTOR in Mission Control.
The MISSION DIRECTOR will:
coordinate the mission team, ensuring the safety of all astronauts and that all tasks are completed
record the location and assist where necessary the setting out of the marker pegs
prompt the Commander to ensure all tasks are completed on the surface
