ENGINEER

Engineers might be mechanically minded, or like working with their hands. They can read instructions and get things done.

The Engineers from both teams will cooperate and work together.

The Engineer will:

  • Activate the weather station, and monitor light and radiation levels on the surface (which provide an early warning for dust storms and CMEs)

  • Connect the video camera and provide close-up images for Mission Control (as requested)

  • Collect pre-drilled geological core samples for examination in the laboratory

The Engineer's equipment includes:

  • Video camera

  • Sample holder

The Engineer will be in direct contact with the EVAO (Extra-Vehicular Activities Officer) in Mission Control.

The EVAO will:

  • Monitor the surface conditions on Mars, including wind speeds and radiation levels

  • Assist and instruct the Engineer (if necessary) to activate the weather station, and record weather data every 10 minutes

  • Direct the Engineer to use the video camera

  • Record the location and collection of geological core samples

TASK: Write a brief report explaining why you would be great for this job.
